Network Principles

Network Engineer Apprentices will gain an understanding of and implement network architecture, network operations, network security. Learners will gain an insight into different types of troubleshooting, build greater knowledge of industrial standards & practices and the network theory. Apprentices will apply these to the workplace.

Network Systems and Architecture

The aim of the second block is for Apprentices to have a greater understanding of server architecture and server administration and how these are implemented at work. Network Engineers will understand the use of storage as well as the importance and implementation of security. Apprentices learn about types of networking, disaster recovery, and troubleshooting.

CCNA

Over the course of the apprenticeship, the ICND1 (CCENT) curriculum will teach Apprentices how to manage network devices, create a medium-sized network, authorise internet connectivity and build a simple IPv4 & IPv6 network. Studying the ICND2 v3.0 curriculum, Network Engineer Apprentices will learn how to implement an EIGRP-based solution and implement a scalable OSPF based solution.

Learners will learn and understand compliance & operational security, the types of threats & vulnerabilities, applications, data & host security. Apprentices will gain a deeper insight into management, cryptography, access control & identity, and about how to apply and implement these in the workplace.

Configure and manage high availability, configure file and storage solutions, implement business continuity and disaster recovery, configure network services, configure the active directory infrastructure, configure identity and access solutions
